In the autumn of 2020, I became obsessed with a tree at the bottom of the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield. At a time when we couldn’t go far, my thoughts were far away. I gathered many leaves and took them home to photograph them by the window. I returned the leaves to the ground beneath the branches, and slowly the branches became bare. A year later I looked back at the photos and I looked back at the tree, waiting for the golden light to return.
